Music and Dance Classes

Get the beat and all the moves at Dazzle! We love kids! Dazzle's music and dance programs provide many different classes and education in many forms and cultures of music and motion.

We Love Kids
Music program for kids 6 and up originating in Forth Worth Texas, teaching music and drumming. Directed by David Mancini, a musician from Eastman School of Music and the RPO. Sessions TBA.

Excellence in Drumming
A comprehensive 7 week course for drummers to develop their skills. All playing levels accepted. What you will learn: hand development, reading, rudiments, coordination, rhythm, musicianship. Classes Saturday mornings, October 8th - November 19th from 11:00 - 11:50. Maximum class enrollment is 8 students. Once this class is filled, other classes may be offered from 10:00-10:50 and 9:00-9:50. Instructor: Mark Jeffrey Maynor.

Class Outline:

Session 1: Hand position and movement, control, speed, strength and coordination, how to read music well.
Session 2: Flams and rudiments, another, look at musical notation.
Session 3: Roll development, more advanced music notation.
Session 4: Fundamentals of good musicianship, how to develop rhythm, time, phrasing and dynamics, listening skills.
Session 5: Practice, discipline, notation, putting it all together, introduction to drum set.
Session 6: Musical notation and practice techniques.
Session 7: Having fun with music!
Session 8: Having fun with music!

All that Jazz
45-minute course of fast paced modem moves with a flavor of Hip-Hop. Learn moves and complete routines with no prior dance experience required. Come dressed in comfortable, loose fitting clothes. Hair pulled back. Jazz or Ballet slippers would be a good idea. 4 sessions.

Lyrical Dance
45 minutes of dance session using basic ballet techniques to create routines to contemporary lyrical music. No prior dance required. Come dressed in comfortable loose fitting clothes. Hair pulled back. Can, dance barefoot or with lyrical shoes. 4 sessions.

Wheels on the Move
One hour class devoted to putting your wheels in motion. This-class is offered to students in wheel chairs with no prior movement experience. Together we will create routines that 'will. move all members to a new level of dance. 4 sessions.

Rumba Tap
Mixing the movements and rhythms of Afro-Cuban folklore with American tap dance and body percussion, Afro-Cuban-Tap pioneer Max Pollak (soloist with Los Mautequitos de Matanzas, Gregory Mines, Danilo Perez, Ray Brown, Chucho Valdez, Tania Maria, Savion Glover) is making an historical statement leading the way into a new era of Rumba in the US and Tap in Cuba. Max is currently touring the US With Cyro Baptista's "Beat the Donkey" project. He also teaches at International Tap Festivals in both Europe and the States. This intensive workshop gets you with the Clave: Dance it - sing it, play it! Deep Cuban grooves and fluid moves. You can do it all with body rhythm tap, drums and ancient chants. Taught to live percussion, the class offers:

Easy coordination exercises to grasp the concept of Clave.
Simple tap and body percussion technique to play basic percussion patterns as an ensemble.
Authentic moves and chants.
Solo phrasing and improvisation
