Anyone Can Draw
Learn to see what the artist sees. No prior art experience is necessary. Learn through traditional demonstrations and practice. Use a pencil or charcoal to draw what you see. Learn how to shade and contour; draw still life, and make objects 3-dimensional. Ages 12 and up. 10 sessions.
Dragons and Fairies, Marionette Making #1
Explore the process of understanding and developing a marionette. After a look at the history of puppets, students will build and costume their own marionette, and go through the stages of adapting a story, creating a script and story board, staging and manipulation of their creations. They will develop character voices and integrate music into their production. An evening performance for families will be arranged. Supplies needed: You will need a bag of stuffing, eye hooks, 36 inch piece of 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch stick. 3 sessions. Instructor: Dawn Jordan
Anyone Can Paint
Build creative confidence and encourage a deeper appreciation of the world around you. Choose to paint a landscape, seascape, or mountain scene. You will go home with at least five paintings. Ages 12-and up. 10 sessions. Instructor: Chas Davis
Basic Photography #1
Lights, Camera, Action! Take good pictures every time you pick up the camera. Designed to move you from the beginner to the novice level, you'll learn how to select. proper film, shutter speed, and lighting for desired effects. We'll teach you the basics of photography that will include composition, stopping action, and when to use a flash for studio and location shots. Supplies needed: 35mm camera with manual shutter and aperture controls, a built-in light meter (external light meter is acceptable), a basic tripod, film, flash. Ages 18 and up. Cost: $150.00
Art and Artists
Discover expressive possibilities through the exploration of various artists and their genres. In each session, students will develop an awareness of a particular art style or famous artist, identify aesthetic points of view, experiment with new techniques, and then respond through their own artwork. An active interplay of imitation and personal creativity is encouraged in order to expand points of view and imagination. Each student should come away with, an. eight-piece portfolio reflecting a range of art styles/techniques. Materials included in cost. Cost: $150.00 8 sessions.
